As her unusual guests hurriedly slid into the hillside, she heard her dad’s affirming voice once more: “Apple of the Fathers Eye Forever!” She emotionally stared in the dark, lost for word, then waved the twin twigs of flax in her hand at the diminishing silhouettes, almost unaware of it.

How these two had in one day turned her world upside down, permanently altering her life. “To gratitude and to destiny!” Came her involuntary exclamation amid her sustained wave. Her mind seemed to linger in wonder of whether she would ever see the mystery duet again.

THE 8TH FALL – II


Continued from last week…

He looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand. The gladiator went up to him and asked, “Are you for us or for our enemies?”

 Suddenly there appeared numerous chariots of fire, too numerous to count, securely surrounding the city. Flames of fire gushed through the eyes of the riding armies: A scene to behold! In an unprecedented display of might, an array of non-conventional tools of warfare fortified the perimeters of the city walls. Jericho was under siege and she knew it not. The calm before the storm descended upon her inhabitants and they were way too oblivious of it.

Antennas


That was then! And to date the squeak remains my favorite animal sound! This became both my ultimate dream and favorite song: To live forever young! Life was so easy, its fulfilling joys boundless. The color of day break inspired infinity, the sunset and moonrise a classical of inexpressible awe and beauty. We played hide and seek with the squirrels in the lush foliage of the breezy trees as we watched our kites wave among the eagles with such gaiety, promise and abandon in the magnificence of the evening sky, high above the glorious sunsets of the hilly horizon.
